Membership Overview

CFAA Membership has grown to include all who are interested and concerned about the issues affecting the fire alarm industry. Both individuals and companies that subscribe to the CFAA Code of Ethics may become a member.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

The following are the membership categories:
 

NATIONAL CORPORATE MEMBER -
Any corporation, company, partnership or proprietorship engaging in the manufacture, sale, installation and maintenance, or engineering, of fire alarm systems, or component parts, that subscribes to the objectives and purposes of the association, and maintains business operation centres across Canada. Such National Corporate Member shall be limited to a maximum of four (4) voting Memberships.

 

PROVINCIAL CORPORATE MEMBER -
Any corporation, company, partnership or proprietorship engaging in the manufacture, sale, installation and maintenance, or engineering, of fire alarm systems, or component parts, that subscribes to the objectives and purposes of the association, and maintains business operation centres across a single Province. Such Provincial Corporate Member shall be limited to a maximum of two (2) voting Memberships.

 

PARTICIPATING CORPORATE/INDIVIDUAL MEMBER -
Any corporation, company partnership or proprietorship that subscribes to the objectives and purposes of the association, and maintains a single business operations centre in a single Province. Such Participating Member shall be limited to a maximum of one (1) voting Membership.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

National (Corporate) Member $1,000.00 + tax annual dues
Provincial (Corporate) Member $500.00 + tax annual dues
Participating (Corporate) / Individual Member $250.00 + tax annual dues
Associate Subscriber $50.00 + tax annual dues

Associate Subscribers receive the following:

National, Provincial and Participating/Individual Members receive the following:

* Discounted fee for attendance at the Annual Technical Seminar

MEMBER CODE OF ETHICS

 Each Canadian Fire Alarm Association Member and Registered Technician shall:

  1. be dedicated to safety of the public from fire, in all aspects of their fire alarm work;
  2. adhere to all applicable fire alarm codes, standards, and by-laws in all areas of fire protection including design, manufacture, application, installation, verification, maintenance servicing and promotion of fire alarm systems;
  3. only perform fire alarm services for which they have qualification and experience;
  4. be honest and truthful in all dealings;
  5. behave in a manner that upholds the principles and integrity of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association;
  6. support the education of industry participants concerning advances in Life Safety and Fire Alarm;
  7. promote the Mission Statement, Goals and Objectives of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association, and both refrain from and discourage others from the misuse of its name and logo.

Monthly National Board of Directors Meetings

The monthly National Board of Directors Meeting is generally held on the first Tuesday of every month. Exceptions to this are during the month of July and August when the CFAA does not meet. If you would like to attend/participate at the monthly meetings please advise the office in advance.
