***Attendance and participation are mandatory and will make up 10% of the final grade.

Course Cost includes the CFAA Course Manual "Basic Electricity for the Fire Alarm Technician". The course manual will be mailed to each paid participant.

Course will be conducted using GoToTraining™. A GoToTraining™ Training ID will be sent to participants after registration is confirmed.

Please ensure to load GoToTraining and test webcam, headset and microphone prior to the commencement of the Course. The GoToTraining information will be sent to all paid course participants.

As a participant of this CFAA Course the objects are:
1. Greater understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code with reference to the following areas.
- Conductors: sizing, insulation types, voltage ratings and other conductor    characteristics, understand how to access the tables regarding conductors and cables i.e. Tables 11,19 and D1, grounding of conduit systems and enclosers – Section 10, wiring methods pertaining to installation of conduit and cable systems – Section 12, protection and control of electrical circuits – overcurrent protection (fuses & breakers), disconnecting means, and class 1 & 2 circuits – section 14, and all requirements pertaining to fire alarm systems – sections 32 & 60.
2. Explain the dangers of higher A/C voltages.
3. Interpret blueprints and specifications, understand the purpose and of riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematic diagrams.
4. Explain basic electrical theory – Ohm’s law, Kirchoff’s law, magnetism and energy generation.
