I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate some of the things that I said during my inaugural address as president of our association.
Again, I use the word “our” very deliberately. Unfortunately we still have the situation where many believe that the CFAA belongs to someone else and that it’s someone else’s job to fix it.
I’m not quite sure what “it” is and neither are they.
The truth is that our association belongs to its members and to those individuals that take the time and effort to make things happen.
As I said last June, there is much to be done and many opportunities to improve and expand our activities. It is only by rolling up all of
our collective sleeves and pitching in, that we can drive
our mission and achieve
our vision.
If you are not happy about something that was done; or especially about something not getting done this year; or about actions of the National or provincial directors, then now is the time to do something about it.
Nominations for the National and several provincial elections will soon be open. If you are unhappy, then contact your nomination committee. If you know someone who would be really good at something but is reluctant to standup, or if you don’t know who to talk to, drop a line to either
president@cfaa.ca or
sclemens@cfaa.ca.
Remember that this is an association of professional experts.

If we are serious about our profession, and sincere about saving lives, we should be serious about our association and sincere about doing all that we can to improve it.
And don’t be surprised if the sudden pain that develops in your arm (or neck) over the next few weeks turns out to be me on one of my henchmen twisting it.
